ABOUT US

ONE San Francisco Bay Area is a group developed for local people who are interested in learning about and getting more involved with ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History.

The ONE Campaign is a diverse coalition of faith-based and anti-poverty organizations coming together to fight global AIDS and extreme global poverty.

ONE is building a network of grassroots activists to rally Americans ONE by ONE to fight hunger, extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS. The goal of the ONE Campaign is to get an additional ONE percent of the federal budget for poverty focused developing assistance programs that would help meet the Millennium Development Goals to halve extreme global poverty by 2015. Over 2.3 million people have signed onto the ONE Pledge. Over 4,000 people have signed up with over 120 local ONE groups around the USA.

Here in San Francisco we have a local e-mail list with over 175 people subscribed to keep in touch on local events and meetings. We have an informal monthly Meet Up on the first Tuesday of every Month at Peet's Coffee in the back of the San Francisco Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street. At these meetings the agenda open to all. We have updates on national and local activities, get to know each other, and plan events such as tabling at the Ferry Building farmers market, tabling at local nightclubs and concerts, faith community outreach, doing local media work, local citizen lobbying, graphic arts, web work and supporting our national campaign actions.

We are the grassroots local people who are ONE by ONE doing what we can to get the word out and build the movement. We are very busy people who have found a way to selectively participate in many effective actions and group activities.

We are excited about the movement to make poverty history. We are inspired by the international movement and our national ONE campaign. We believe our generation is the first one that can see the end of extreme global poverty.

We invite you to join us and plug into our network of local people and opportunities.
